FAQ

What is Scootaround’s “Meet and Greet Service”?

Scootaround’s special “Meet & Greet Service” is mandatory if you are staying on Disney properties. As part of this service, we deliver the wheelchair directly to you at any Disney World hotel or resort at a time of your choosing. This personalized service allows our personnel to give you an orientation with your rental equipment and ensures you are comfortable using your Disney wheelchair rental prior to venturing into the parks.

What is the best wheelchair model to rent for Disney World?

The best wheelchair model for Disney World depends on two things: the upper-body strength of the person using the wheelchair and the people they are visiting the park with. If the user has decent mobility and strength in their arms, we recommend renting a Standard or Heavy Duty Wheelchair. This will allow the user to propel themselves around the parks by grabbing the large rear wheels and pushing forward. An average sized person will be fine with a standard chair, while a larger individual may find an HD or Bariatric Wheelchair more comfortable.

If the user has limited strength in their upper body, a Transport Chair may be a better option. These chairs have four smaller wheels and need to be pushed by a loved one or caregiver.

Call our rental specialists at 1-888-441-7575 to determine the right wheelchair for your needs!

Does Scootaround provide free delivery to Disney World hotels and resorts?

Yes, we provide FREE delivery to all locations within 25 miles of our Scootaround Orlando location, including Disney World. Minimum rental of 2 days.

Where do I store the Disney wheelchair when I’m not using it?

Please store the wheelchair in your hotel room, residence, or Airbnb whenever possible. Our wheelchairs all collapse and can easily fit in any hotel room. Be sure to call your accommodation in advance to determine what will be best.

How to Make the Most of Your Disney World Wheelchair Rental

Disney works hard to create a welcoming environment for guests with disabilities and offers a Disability Access Service Card that enables you to skip long line-ups for rides within the park. There are also rooms designed for manual wheelchair users in the resort hotels. Staying on resort is a good idea whether you have mobility issues or not, as it cuts down on time getting in and out of the parks and offers perks such as later access to the attractions and special events.

Scootaround has a variety of wheelchair models for rent, including transport chairs, standard wheelchairs, and bariatric wheelchairs. When it comes to planning your Walt Disney World trip, we can fix you up with a wheelchair rental through our unique Meet & Greet Service. With our Meet & Greet Service, we deliver the wheelchair directly to you at any Disney World property at a time that works with your schedule. This personalized service guarantees the unit has been properly sanitized and allows one of our personnel to give you an orientation with your rental wheelchair. This service ensures you are comfortable using the mobility rental prior to venturing into the theme parks.

When the rental is over, we will pick up the manual wheelchair directly from you at the hotel or resort. Call 1-888-441-7575 or email us to make your reservation. We also offer multi-day wheelchair rentals for vacationers who will be spending extended time in the Orlando area.

If you're looking to purchase equipment instead of renting, Scootaround also has wheelchairs for sale in the Kissimmee and Orlando area.

Disney World's Attractions

Everybody knows about the four main theme parks – Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. However, if you’re a first-time visitor to Disney World, here are four specific attractions you’ll want to include on your itinerary:

  • Cinderella Castle: By day, the Castle serves as a stage for the “Dream Along with Mickey” live show, where characters dance and sing to the delight of kids and grown-ups alike. By night, the Castle begins to glow and acts as the centerpiece of the epic nightly fireworks display. Be sure to book a Magic Kingdom wheelchair rental in advance to ensure you can enjoy Cinderella's Castle to the fullest.

  • Wild Africa Trek: If you’ve always dreamed of going on safari, the Wild Africa Trek at Disney’s Animal Kingdom may be the perfect attraction for you. The trek offers you a three-hour semi-private guided tour through the habitats at Animal Kingdom, bringing you close to the animals themselves.

  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror: You have to go on at least one scary ride at Disney World, so you might as well make it a terrifying one! Located in Hollywood Studios, The Tower of Terror is one of the most iconic Disney rides. If you haven’t been on a thrill-ride for a long time, this is a great one to start with.

  • Jellyrolls: If you’re ready to get away from the excited children after spending a long day in the Disney parks, then Jellyrolls is the perfect place to head. This dueling piano bar sets two ridiculously skilled pianists against each other as they take requests and belt out hit after hit.

This is just a small taste of the things you can experience at Disney. There are also water parks, themed resorts, golf courses, and more! The parks span a lot of ground – to fully explore everything, we highly recommend booking a Disney World wheelchair rental or Disney Springs wheelchair rental in advance of your trip. Scootaround is one of the top wheelchair rental companies in Orlando – call 1-888-441-7575 or email us for assistance.

Parking at Walt Disney World

You’ll need to display a recognizable disabled parking permit from any state or country in order to use the assigned spaces at Walt Disney World hotels and resorts. These spaces should be marked with an International Symbol of Access (Wheelchair Symbol) and outlined in blue paint. However, once you’re parked you won’t really need to take your car anywhere else as getting around the parks is easy and driving to each park would take more effort than using the transportation provided.

Some Disney Deluxe Resort properties also offer complimentary valet parking to disabled guests.
