Averaging 330 days of sunshine every year, Phoenix is known for being an exceedingly popular city to retire to, but is also a fun destination to head to for a vacation – in fact, the city sees some 16 million visitors a year. Sports fans love the city because it is home to sports teams in all four major professional sports leagues, including the Arizona Cardinals. There are more golf courses in and around the city than you could ever hope to play at in one visit, and Phoenix is known for being a great shopping destination and an awesome destination for foodies too.
As a desert city, Phoenix is surrounded by dramatic landscapes complete with the kind of cactus you see in old Wile E. Coyote cartoons. But it is still a very modern and cosmopolitan city that is surprisingly lush in places. Phoenix caters very well indeed for those with mobility issues, perhaps in part due to the high numbers that retire there, which makes it a very easy city to vacation in if you do use a mobility scooter or wheelchair.
