Please be aware that the majority of these attractions involve quite a bit of walking, which can be especially taxing for elderly people and those with limited mobility. Driving and Parking in Port Canaveral
If you are driving to Port Canaveral and have a disability parking permit from another state or country, you do not need to apply for a temporary permit during your stay in the area. Florida recognizes all disability permits from other states and foreign countries. On the other hand, if the driver does not have a plate or permit that displays an international symbol of accessibility, visitors will need to purchase a temporary disabled person parking permit for a small fee Individuals can apply in-person or by mail at a motor vehicle service center.
At Port Canaveral itself, designated parking spots are provided for individuals with disabilities. Vehicles who are carrying individuals with specific disabilities that necessitate specialized apparatus, like ramps and lifts, are exempt from paying parking fees. Fees are also waived for people with Florida Disabled Veterans license plates.

The Kennedy Space Center is a renowned spaceport and launch facility located in Cape Canaveral, Florida. There is accessible parking available at the front of the facility for visitors with limited mobility. This equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis and costs anywhere from $8 to $30 for the day.

The Exploration Tower at Port Canaveral offers visitors an educational and interactive experience that highlights the history and culture of the region, focusing specifically on space exploration and the bustling cruise industry. The tower has multiple observation decks that provide a stunning panoramic view of Port Canaveral and the Atlantic Ocean. The Exploration Tower also hosts various events and workshops related to space and the environment. The ground floor is home to a gift shop and café where visitors can enjoy refreshments while taking in the views.
The tower is committed to making its exhibits and facilities accessible to all visitors. This popular beach is located south of Port Canaveral on Florida’s East Coast. The area is known for its vibrant surf culture, natural beauty, and historic pier. Known as the "Surfing Capital of the East Coast," Cocoa Beach is renowned for its consistent waves, which make it a must-visit destination for surfers of all skill levels. The beach is also home to the iconic Ron Jon Surf Shop – one of the largest surf shops in the world. You’ll also want to check out the Cocoa Beach Pier, which is a popular spot for fishing, dining, and shopping.
Cocoa Beach (along with the shops and businesses in the area) have made great strides to make the beach as accessible as possible. Beach wheelchairs are available for rent in the Cape Canaveral area and there are ramps down to the beach at multiple points. Most restaurants and shops on Cocoa Beach are also wheelchair accessible.
Manatee Sanctuary Park

This public park is known for its natural beauty and role in providing a sustainable habitat for manatees and other wildlife. As you can probably guess, the park gets its name from the gentle and graceful aquatic mammals known as manatees, which are often spotted in the waters around the park. These animals are native to Florida's coastal waters and are often referred to as "sea cows” due to their large size. The Manatee Sanctuary Park is located along the Banana River and gives visitors the opportunity to view manatees in their natural habitat. The park features a boardwalk and observation deck that provide excellent views of the water, along with picnic tables, walking paths, and benches for when you need to rest.
