If you are driving to Washington D.C. and have a disability parking permit from another state, you do not need to apply for a temporary permit during your stay. Disability placards/permits or tags from any state allow you to park in any parking space designated for a disabled person and park for double the posted time in any metered spaces without paying the meter. International visitors must apply for a Disability Parking Placard at any DMV service center. If your request is approved, you may be issued a one week permit, a temporary placard or a long-term placard. There is no charge for a disability placard or permit.
