Driving and Parking in Honolulu
In Honolulu, vehicles displaying handicap tags or disability license plates, including Disabled Veterans, are granted special parking privileges. These vehicles can park in designated disabled parking spaces, which are clearly marked with blue paint and the International Symbol of Access (wheelchair symbol). Additionally, there are numerous public parking facilities and street parking options throughout the city, many of which offer accessible spaces to accommodate visitors with disabilities.

Do not take your Scootaround mobility scooter or manual wheelchair out onto Waikiki Beach itself, as these devices are not meant to operate on sand. Please stick to the boardwalk areas and paths instead. If you’d like to venture out onto the beach, there are all-terrain beach wheelchairs available on a first-come, first-served basis at the nearby Kuhio Beach Park.
